    2015 Crossrunner newbie

    Hi Folks,

I'm a newbie having just picked up my 2015 Crossrunner from Wheels in P'boro (their ex demo bike in white with 500 miles on it).

They gave me a good price on mine (S1000r) and the new bike comes with centre stand, Akrapovic, top box etc ... so a good start  :002:

Bit of a change from the S1000r but it was beginning to annoy me to death with the wind/cold and it's insatiable appetite for speed i.e. I was riding it too fast!  Rode the Crossrunner and loved the comfort and riding position and whilst initially concerned about whether it would have enough performance to satisfy me, was pleasantly surprised on the test ride (loved the v-tech noise esp with the Akrapovic fitted  :002: )

I use the bike mainly for commuting to work and back with the odd weekend ride to the coast and I think I've found the perfect bike.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone,

    Cheers,

    Paul

Welcome Paul, once its loosened off a bit, you'll find the need for speed is still there.  Take out the baffle, lovely sound and wear out the Scorpions as soon as possible and get a set of decent road tyres on it.

Hi Derek .... the bike I'm buying from Wheels already had the baffle taken out ... so I've asked them not to put it back in again .... sounded very nice  :001:

Any recommendations on best road tyres ... I've seen a lot of people raving about Pilot Road 4's ?

Once the baffle is out I think the only person able to start the bolt would be a 2 year old, not much room.
Iv'e just put a set of PR 4's on mine, (Scorpions changed at 2900mls) and they are excellent, have them on my ZRX and was the best choice for it as well.  They are a bit pricy but worth it though.  Had a Tiger 800 before whch had Scorpions on it, they lasted 4000mls on it, was glad to get them changed too.  I would guess any good road tyre would do, but I think the PR 4's get a bit more mileage from them.  Depends how gentle you are though, heavy front braking rips the front tyre. (memo to self, slow down)

Struggling to get a photo uploaded ... they exceed the attachment limit for file upload and as yet I havent figured out how to reduce the file size  :021:

That aside, I've ridden almost every day since buying the bike and it gets better and better.  What a great all round bike  :001:
