    Hi Guys ,
    I'm a very recent owner of a Crossrunner 2012 model and I would like to clarify the valve clearance / maintenance , so please tell me : When does the valves need to have a maintenance ? Every 24.000 kms ? Only at 100.000 kms ? ..... ?
    Thanks in advance. :031:

    Memory says the service schedule is every 16K miles (please check!), but most people's experience seems to be that once the bike has a few 1000 miles on it the clearances don't change much, and for home servicing every 40K is about right.

    Thanks for you quick answer Si Click !  :028: Someone told me that his bike has got 60,000 kms and he never did the valve clearance maintenance and that his mechanic will do that only when he reaches 100,000 kms on his bike . In average how much does it cost that 40.000 kms maintenance that includes the valve inspection?

    If you are working to the Service schedule then the clearances will need to be inspected every 26,000 Kms or so (~ 16,000 miles).  The cost will vary with the dealer, but expect the equivalent of an extra £300-£500 on top of the usual servicing costs.

    If you have the skills (Bikersoracle has plenty of explanations of how to do it on a VTEC engine) then the additional cost will be a few £s for shims if needed, and the best part of a day of your time.  When you do it is up to you, but whilst most inspections do not require any adjustment (my pre-VTEC 800 was serviced by a Honda dealer on time and never needed adjustment in 58,000 miles), you should bear in mind that Honda design their schedules for a reason and some bikes may need to follow the manufacturers guidance.

    Didn't need any shims changed until 48k km.

    @LWillow,

    Am sorry for the misleading. Valve clearance should be done at 40k km.
