West Country Charity Night for Air Ambulance

This is short notice but if anyone is interested I'm organizing an event this Saturday 21 November in Yeovil, Somerset in aid of the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance. The entertainment is Steve Parrish who was a very successful GP bike racer (team mate to Barry Sheene) and then went on to became the world's most successful truck racer. He is now a very prominent commentator and presenter for bike and car sport as well as the Red Bull air races. Very amusing guy with a great stage show.

Venue is the GateWay Centre in Yeovil - Addleswell Lane, BA20 1QN and the doors open at 7.15 for 8.00pm start. Licensed bar - auction of rare racing parts and Grand Raffle so all in all a good night.

Tickets £12.00 - all proceeds to Air Ambulance.

I hope it goes well for you all tonight it sounds like a great event for a very worthy cause.

Sadly I have only just checked the posts so have missed the boat as I am not local to you.

I have recently done the Essex air ambulance ride from Dunton to Harwich which was great fun and I am always happy to support the air ambulance services which have come to the aid of so many of my fellow motorcyclists amongst their patients over the years.

Sorry I could not be there but I take my helmet off to you for organising it.

Thanks Reasty and Greenie.  I've been so busy organising the event and working with the media that it was only a last minute thought to post on here - I should have done it earlier.  Anyway a fantastic night. Steve was really entertaining with an audience of over 300.  The race parts I auctioned, mainly from a John McGuinness TT bike and a unique double photo I got Marquez and Pedrosa to sign, made £1500 and the raffle, sponsored in the main by dealer Bransons of Yeovil £800.  I had expected a phone bidder form Italy whose phone number starts with 46 to bid for the photo as I know he is great fan of theirs! Anyway with ticket sales and some other small amounts it looks like it will be about £5000 for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.  More than twice the event I organised last year - phew!

Luv the 46 comment! If only cox and stavros could be put back onto the gp commentary - would've been gr8 to hear there comments on the 'coming together' incident.
Congrats on the monies raised, a sound cause and seems like a truly enjoyable evening. :031:

Great result - Steve Parrish superbly entertaining.  His story of taking a First National single-decker full of passengers flat out around around Donington Park still has me chuckling. He had all the passengers moving from one side to the other for the corners with the bus sideways and someone filmed it - priceless.  I didn't think you could get 90 out of a bus on such short straights!  They had stipulated no more than 30 mph but it took them 4 laps to stop him.

If you get the chance to see one of his MAD tour shows - do take it!
