Hello From Lancashire and Crossrunner virgin!
    on: February 01, 2016, 11:18:02 am
    February 01, 2016, 11:18:02 am

Hello and I think I am in a position to write this as on Saturday I ordered my 1st Crossrunner for picking up early March.

I have be a big lover of the VFR's and V4s and have been riding a well looked after 1987 VFR750 FH in white for the last 11 years which has served me very well including long trips around Europe during 9 of the 11 years.

She has now gone to a forever retirement home (my brother) and happy she will be looked after.

I have been looking to upgrade for a few months now and trying our various bikes including Ducati Hyperstrada, Triumph Tigers 800 & 1050 and BMW K12/300R.

In the end it was between the BMW K1300R (great bike !) and the Crossrunner. But saw a gread deal on a 2014 White Crossrunner with only 1780 miles on the clock and bit the bullet (an price was a lot cheaper than the K1300's looking at).

So Im sure I will be welcomed and look forward to enjoying this site and riding.

Off course when buying new bike I will have loads of questions so will appreciate all help you can give me and eventually I will do same.

    Current questions are :
    1) any recommendations on what rear hugger to buy?
    2) Any recommendation on what front fender/mudguard extender to buy and can I fit without putting holes in fender.
    3) Any recommendations on hard panners to buy - Currently has Givi top box rack but no boxes.
    4) Does anyone know the part number for Givi tank lock disk for 2014 bike? - seems cheeper to buy tank bag and lock separate - I have bagster tank bags at present on old VFR but think tank lock is way to go??

    Thanks
    Mike

Hello and welcome to the forum.

As many others will testify the 2015 model is an excellent bike and I think in time to come as people begin to recognise the bike's many positive credentials, sales may pick up rather quickly. I can't speak for the previous incarnation Crossrunner but having ridden and owned a broad array of differing bikes I can confirm you have made an excellent choice. Indeed when describing it, I refer to the Crossrunner as 'The B Road King'; no other bike have I ever ridden is more at home in this environment, it is absolutely perfect and untouchable in this territory.

In terms of a hugger I asked the same question and was advised to get one; I decided to have fitted the Honda one.

At this very moment I'm deliberating on which front mudguard extender to purchase.  I'm probably leaning more towards the Powerbronze one but they recommend fitting with screws; I'm not too keen on that.  I should decide soon as the bike really needs one.

    All the best.

    Mr K

Hi, welcome to the forum and good choice.

Got the 2015 model myself and I've fitted the fender extender (waterproof adhesive) as it certainly helps keep the crud off the lower rad and a Honda hugger also helps the real shock.

    Hi Mike,

I've just taken deliver of mine. I think the best looking aftermarket hugger is the ermax one. I was planning on buying it but found a Honda one on eBay for £40. It was £100 cheaper than the ermax!!

I bought the powerbronze fender extender. The gloss black finish ties in very nicely with the original mudguard. I haven't fitted it yet as like you I am not keen to screw it on. I have bought some Gorilla glue to try. If in doubt I may fit it with the screws and paint them black.

On panniers, I bit the bullet and got the Honda ones. Got a discount on buying with the bike. They are very good quality and are key matched so the ignition key opens all.

Just wish we had the weather to get out and ride it!
