    Center stand or Abba?

My bike didn't come with a centre stand and I need to do some chain maintenance but oscillating between the more practical centre stand or the more versatile and cheaper Abba stand. I have a set of paddock stands from the previous bike but are now useless with this swing arm.

Those of you that don't have a centre stand, what do you use?

Sorry I can't really help as I prefer a centre stand so that I can lube the chain whilst away from home

I didn't get to install the Scottoiler and since I don't have a garage, it is too cold to do any work on the bike outside. With the old bike it was possible to pivot it on the the side-stand just enough to lift the back wheel and quickly lube the chain but the side-stand on the CR looks so flimsy that I'm afraid it may snap if I try this.

I like the idea of a centre stand for its simplicity for not needing another tool for simple stuff like cleaning the wheels and such. But the Abba allows me to lift the front up as well if needed and is cheaper ... I probably need both but budget is overspent already :034:

I bought an Abba stand. Well made, easy to use and works well. This will be the last bike stand I buy as it can used on all bikes with the appropriate pins. Regards Pete

The center stand is pretty strong...  Id be inclined to measure and take photos of a vfr vtec 800 and then get us to measure the stand length of the one on the crossrunner, because the frames are the same, if the length is the same you should find one on ebay at a fraction of the cost honda are now charging....

I've been to my Honda Dealer and measured the VFR800's centre stand leg, the off-side one (foot break lever) which is 28.4cm. If anyone could take the same measurement on the crossrunner, I would greatly appreciate it.

The dealer said it could fit but he was concerned that it may not lift the CR enough to clear the ground.

@Paul I've emailed those sellers and none of them come with bolts or fittings. Not sure if I can get them separately from Honda.

    Thanks,
    Andy

    Andy.
If you use this site. Honda lings you will be able to get the parts and more importantly the part numbers.
     http://www.hondaoriginalparts.com/honda_motorcycle_parts_catalogue_M01.php
Write the numbers down.  they have all the illustrated diagrams.  then go here..... Put the part numbers in and order as silver WILL be cheaper
     http://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/parts/by-part-number/
Any vtec from 2002 will have same stand parts.
When I get home I will measure stand and report back unless another member posts sizes first.

I am pretty sure stands are the same. I remember that on my vtec there was over an inch of clearance between tire and floor when on centre stand.  the cross runner tire barely clears floor.  if this works out you will need an exhaust gasket as well.  Joe. Can you shed some light on the exhaust gasket please ?

Andy.  seems we have an answer.  the crossrunner stand on gear change side from bottom to top of stand near mounting point is 30cm / 12inch.
    That's a bummer
