12v cigarette lighter socket and 2x usb sockets
on: November 26, 2016, 06:16:35 PM
I have bought the components from Ebay to fit these to the bike but when I was at the NEC this week I noticed that the 2017 CR has a 12v socket fitted to the left hand internal fairing next to the handlebars .It looked like it was situated in a removable plate added to the fairing . I have not seen this on any other model so I am assuming that this is new for 2017.....is that right ?

I would rather fit OEM parts than some Chinese parts bought off ebay but my bike is a 2016 model

The 15/16 OEM option is to have one fitted beneath the seat AFAIK.

My dealer gave me an Oxford Products one & told me it would be cheaper, especially if I fitted it myself. I'm not sure I like the idea of a cable sticking out of the fairing but I guess it depends what yr powering; my sat nag is wired-in already and my heated jacket has a separate plug beneath the seat.

I bought a waterproof double USB outlet that mounts onto the handlebars. I wired it to the battery via a relay that is powered off the headlight fuse so it doesn't work unless the bike is on so the battery doesn't trickle drain. This way it is there if I need it with easy access.
VFR800X (just a bit quicker than the 500X)
