Barkbuster Hand Guards
on: December 28, 2016, 01:03:40 PM
Just fitted a pair this morning but not had chance to test ride them yet.

They're certainly a lot smaller externally than the Oxford ones yet they don't appear to impinge on the levers or controls nor do they snag on the tank.

The only disappointing bit so far is that they don't fit around the mirror stalk, so as you can see from the pics, I've had to fold them over to get them to fit properly.

Removing the rubber bungs in the bar ends was a bit of a faff, but a small screwdriver pushed between the edge of the rubber and the bar inner whilst spraying WD-40 down the gap seemed to do the release them then just insert the old mounting screw a little and they pull out easily. There is a vid on YouTube showing them whilst fitting a set of SW-Motech guards.

2 days of cold (~5 deg C) commute and they are doing their job. I like them and they are much more convenient than the Oxford Muffs, no snagging of any controls at all though of course they don't completely cover the hands like the Oxford ones do but I'm very happy with them. I just wish there was a slot for the mirror stalk.
