Login warning in Firefox v52
on: March 16, 2017, 11:02:12 PM
Please note that if you are using the latest version of Firefox (version 52) then you might see the following warning when you login:

Nothing has changed, just Firefox, they are simply aligning themselves to the eventual move to the HTTPS protocol as standard instead of HTTP.

If you ignore the warning then all you are doing is logging in exactly as you have done before. However should you wish to login over a secure connection then merely add or substitute https:// to the beginning of the url.

Using https will work on the forum as it has a genuine secure ssl certificate in place.

However we have not implemented it by default at the moment as we are still in a phase of transition. Eventually the whole site will be https by default but we need convert various areas in stages.

Thought we'd let you know as that message basically hijacks our login and looks a bit disconcerting.

You can read more on the mozilla website here:

Good work in turning the site over to HTTPS, sir! :028:

Of course everyone had already noticed that the authentication does not take place over a secured channel and has chosen a suitably useless-elsewhere username and password, right?  :016:
