Adjusted the chain today so used the bikes tool kit for the first time .When i opened it, there was a length of cable looped at both ends in a plastic sheath . Im sure when somebody lets me know Ill go DOH!!!! but for now ....any ideas

When you remove the buddyseat, you find a clip @ rear left side
You can loop this piece of steelwire through the DD-closing of your helmet,boths ends over the clip and close the buddyseat, leaving your helmet locked to your bike

Yep, helmet lock, shown on page 48 of the English version of the manual.
