Painting a Top Box
on: February 22, 2018, 02:23:52 PM
The 31 litre top box on my Crossrunner is a little small and a pain in the arse to close the lid when nearly full.

I've found a brand new 45 litre top box for £100 off list (£145 vs £245) but it's the wrong colour; blue, & I need white.

How easy will it be to change the colour, especially what is effectively a blue undercoat to a white topcoat?

Not painted anything like this before, hence the question.

Cheers.

Hi Skids preparation is key with a good rub down to get through the top coat, search locally for paint suppliers many will now mix your colour into a spray can and recommend the best primer to use along with tac cloths and spirit wipe to clean up before painting. loads of vids on youtube most important is take your time.

Thanks m8.  :028:

TBH, I'm thinking about going to a local paint shop. A mate has had good work done there and I can take the box in and get a reliable quote.

Didn't go for the £145 new one in the end, found a barely used 2nd-hand one, still in blue, for £85 including the base plate though that probably wont fit the Cr.

Collection Sunday afternoon.
