That's a beautiful bike the 1200 you have there Skids, tested one before I bought the CR but wasn't happy stretching forward like, I'm no racer.
I also tested the CrossTourer on the same day before the VFR 1200 but suffer from short legs.
I had a Yamaha Super Tenere, the full Worldcrosser version and I really struggled for two years before admitting it had been too tall for me (lowered in every which way) then downsizing to the CR, which I do like very much and suits my build better.

Always tempted by the 1200X but the F is so fabulous, especially after over £1k spent on the suspension that I will put up with sore wrists.

Just caught up on your thread, Skids. I know, really slack of me. Anyway that's a gorgeous 1200, and what a backdrop! How many of the opposition have you managed to shoot up?
Some of my past bikes. Norton ES2 - Norton 650SS - Velocette Venom - Velocette Thruxton Venom - Kawasaki Z1100 ST - Kawasaki GPZ 1100 B2 - Honda CB500.

The 1200 is an ICBM (Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile for the youngsters out there
).
Don't get me wrong, I love every single VFR800 I've owned, they are brilliant machines, and despite their ageing credentials, not slow bikes but the 1200 is in another league, actually several leagues. It accelerates as fast at 130 as the 800 does at 70 (on private roads, natch
) and since I got the suspension re-worked, it handles like the 800 though it can't hide the extra weight.
I can't see me ever selling the 1200, unless I physically can no longer ride it.
And the sound from that V4 with the DAM can......
