Anyone got any ideas on how to limit the play on the twistgrip

There should be 2 screw adjusters on the throttle cables as they exit the handgrips. Undo the locking nut then rotate the long nut-shaped bit with a spanner of the same size, one for each cable, to take up the slack. Beware over-tightening, there needs to be a small amount of slack, check the manual for the correct amount.

Best leave it alone it's meant to be there and you will not gain anything by taking it out.

Respectfully disagree m8. I always wind mine in a little bit in from standard, though always leave a small amount of slack so the idle revs don't get affected.
YMMV.

Should be 2mm rotation play at the twist grip. When you've adjusted move the bars from lock to lock to make sure the revs don't rise. If they do, you have the cables too tight.

I have a feeling the OP could have been referring to the movement in the twist grip body itself on the bars rather than cable adjustment

I've wondered about that too... seems loose but cannot do anything to resolve it...

The 2017 version is also has some backlash. I took it apart but there is no way to improve it. Just have to live with it (characteristic of the bike). Don't really notice if I'm honest, too busy hanging on.
