Akrapovic OEM slip on exhaust
on: September 26, 2018, 10:30:16 AM
Hello

I have a question, i am interested in aftermarket slip on exhaust for my CR 2017 model, and first option is OEM akrapovic from honda, that is street "legal"

Only better noise and weight reduction or the engine run smooth or better ?

Too much diference with baffer in/out in noise/engine running ?

If any difference, only on high revs o all the range or rpm ?

Thanks

My Akra was fitted from new so I haven't ridden it with the OEM exhaust but experience from other VFRs tends to suggest that an aftermarket can will smooth out throttle response a little, look better and save weight. I ride with the baffle out as a safety measure.

If I was fitting a new can now, I'd choose a DAM. I have one on my VFR1200F and it is gorgeous and sounds brilliant.

98 VFR800 - 130,000 miles (sold)
08 VFR800 - 76,000 miles (sold)
14 VFR1200 - 20,000 miles
15 VFR800X - 44,000 miles (sold)
18 VFR800X - 9,000 miles

I bought my rc80 with stock exhaust and changed to Akra after half a year or so. The Akra looks nice, but I don't really notice any performance difference. Sounds okay though, but then again, so did the stock exhaust.
Worth the money; not really I guess.

My CR came with the Honda Akra and the original and I have tried it with both. I cannot tell any difference in the performance but Akra looks a lot better (the original is really ugly !) Sounds slightly better but is not offensively loud but is much lighter. Original weighs 5.2kg and Akra 2.2kg according to my bathroom scales.
Anything that saves weight on a CR has got to be good as its a heavy bike.
