Oil change

Hi , Is it ok to Mix 10W30 with 10W40 oil when doing a oil change on the Crossrunner  ?

I dont think its ok to mix different oil even with that slight difference.On the other hand  if i was going to change oil to my old honda cub 50cc ,i wouldnt hesitate to use the mix.Maybe it wont harm the engine(talking about cr) but you dont know.You might also hear people say " dont worry as long as it doesnt run out of oil nothing will happen" .So its up to you if you want to take the risk.

I'm no mechanic or oil expert but I doubt it would do any harm short term. I'd personally not leave it like that though for any length of time and do a correct oil change as early as I could. I have a feeling that you couldn't accurately know how the oil will handle things when it's of mixed viscosity - happy to be corrected though

10w30 is the recommended oil, 40 is slightly "thicker" when warm. I bet you nor the engine will notice any difference.

Furthermore, honda used to recommend 10w40 for the older vfr engines.

I wouldn't mind mixing those 2.

Without direction from an "expert", for something as important to the longevity of your pride & joy as the engine oil is, I personally would not mix grades of oil. For the small extra expense, I'd ensure I had sufficient of the recommended grade and use that.

But that's just me, it's your choice.
