Peeling paint on engine outer cases 2017 warranty?

Just out cleaning the crossrunner and noticed black paint just wiping off as I cleaned the cases around the oil site glass area . Has anyone else had this and if so was it repainted or replaced under warranty? .No solvent based chemicals or cleaners used and no pressure washing either and I've never had this happen on a Honda before .

Yes, on the cam cover above the front exhausts and no, Honda wouldn't entertain a claim.
I don't think pressure washing had anything to do with it. I've pressure washed every bike I've had and not seen any bad outcomes; the flaking is down to 2 British winters.

Same here, aside from the pressure washing. Honda refused the claim. British winters.. and salty roads.. indeed.

Spoke to the dealer and he is putting a claim in and says it is a warranty issue .We will wait and see.

Well lads I got mine done under warranty and recieved a call yesterday to tell me it's all done .I also had a clutch problem which as I suspected was down to the master cylinder rod and seals giving up the ghost .This was causing the clutch to slip intermittently as the master was partial sticking on .I have not seen the casing so won't know weather it's just had a dab of paint on it or it was actually removed and prepared properly before applying the paint ,I'll let you know when I pick it up .

Interesting... you'd expect Honda to be consistent in their appraisal of warranty claims, but evidently not!
Mine's now well out of warranty, but I'm tempted to try and make a retrospective claim - they should have it on record that I enquired about this whilst it was under warranty and was rejected.

Can I ask which dealer you went through? Do you know whether the casing was repainted or replaced?
Today I spoke to Tippets Honda, through whom I made the original warranty claim, and they told me that Honda rarely re-paint anything.. they just replace the casing. Given that yours was not the cam cover, I wonder if the reduced complexity of removing that cover influenced the claim?
If so, why should that be the customer's problem? Peeling paint is peeling paint, wherever it occurs.

I used thunder Road motorcycles .If it's a repaint job they made a sweet job of it as it looks like new .I developed another issue with the clutch master cylinder partially sezing and they fixed that as well. They was very prompt and extremely helpful.
