    Take care when posting pictures

I have been told by another member that whilst accidentally trying to upload a picture that was too large he was banned for life as it was deemed to be a "DOS attack". This seems a bit unfair for a simple mistake

    Slight exaggeration I think   :002:

The site does have some detection systems in place to prevent things like DOS attacks etc from hackers etc. (And believe me they do try on a regular basis...  :111: ). Suspect the member concerned got incorrectly stopped. However, when this happens it's usually only a automatic temporary block of a few hours. It certainly isn't a "life ban".

In general it can happen if accessing from a mobile phone as the browsers tend to badly configured. iPhones are the worse culprits.

If you pm me the details of the member I'd be more than happy to check it out.

Obviously if the site was seriously hacked then it'll more of a problem, so we need something in place but I accept that occasionally it might mess up  :138:

Ok, after checking I can see that the IP address of the member concerned was on an IP blacklist which is why there was an issue.

Sometimes you can inherit an IP from your ISP that has a bad history and as such you'll have issues on the internet. ISP's don't care though as IP addresses cost them money. Consequently they will keep using such IP's despite their dubious past.

Usually turning your router on and off sorts the issue out as you'll automatically acquire a new IP that way (assuming you don't have a fixed IP).

I won't make this public here but will send the person concerned a pm with the details.

    Cheers  :031:

Thanks to you Rocker66 for letting Admin know of my error and consequences. As you can see I'm back on the forum.

To Admin I would say it was a genuine error and I also fully understand and appreciate the security of the forum and members is paramount.
Initially my ban from the forum was for 24hrs, this was then increased to a ban that would never be reviewed from this I read a ' lifetime ban '.
Anyway thanks for reviewing the situation

I had my fair share of strange experiences but hopefully will get ironed out at some point.
