Tank Grips
« on: January 25, 2019, 05:32:23 PM »
I see Thurn are now producing Tank Grips for the X.

I have bought many of their products for both the 800X and the 1200F and they are quality parts.
1 VFR simply isnt enough! Crossrunner for commuting, VFR1200F for summer fun.

For those Lorenzo moments, eh?  :018:

I've thought about applying something like this... 39Euro seems criminally expensive for some carefully cut self-adhesive material with a bit of friction tho! I'm wondering what DIY options there might be.. surely something so simple can't cost more than a few quid?
Current: 2015 Honda VFR800X, 2003 Yamaha TDM900
Past: Honda CLR125, Honda CB500, Triumph Sprint Sport, Honda VFR750FS, Suzuki DRZ400SM, 2001 Triumph Speed Triple 955i

Ha ha, I know what you mean.  :016:

I made these to stop the family jewels hitting the tank under braking.

Nice! What material did you use? Still happy with it?

They're TechSpec Snakeskin universal pads cut to shape. You can buy squares of the stuff and cut as desired. I have a factory-cut set on the 1200 and felt I needed some on the 800 as I tend to slip forward down the seat under braking so gripping with my knees prevents this. They don't do specific factory-cut ones for the 15+ 800X, hence cutting them myself.

Wouldn't be without them now.

HTH.

Finally got around to it. Tech Spec universal kit, couple of new stickers, and several beers. :031:
