Just out of interest I was wondering what other members views are regarding the slow pace of thus forum. This to me is the slowest I've ever been a member of . I must presume almost everyone is really happy with there crossrunner and spend more time riding them than spannering or repairing them. My personal opinion is that the crossrunner is far better than it's some of parts suggest and compared to the competition, the tracer, versys ,triumph etc its build quality is better as is its suspension.style is an individual thing so apart from those extra electronic settings and colour tft screens the crossrunner is great value price wise .

I think you are correct (on both counts).

Most people appear to use this forum to increase their knowledge of the 800X and offers lessons & opinions. I don't think there are enough of us to form a quorum that would lead onto more socialising/rideouts and we are geographically quite well spaced out around the globe.

I've never come across an unhappy Cr owner, and there are enough ex-BM/Triumph etc owners expressing their preference for  the Cr to show that is does what it does very, very well and on the back of 30+ years of heritage of the Vee-four Honda, it's not surprising it has matured into a very good bike.

There was one in the early days a group met in Stratford-upon-Avon, nothing that I can remember since then.

Regarding the Crossrunner, I have had dozens of bikes over the years and this is arguably the best I have ever had. A true do it all bike that is fun to ride.

I have seen a fare few cr,s out and about recently and was chatting to a few of the riders and I asked did they use the forum ,the reply from four I've spoken to said No Why ? " only use forums to help if I've had problems "  " no issues no need "  " bikes great since day 1" " it's a Honda nuff said " . So there you have it . Now will Honda have a bike as good to replace the cr ????? Or will they do a refresh and get it to Euro 5 standards with better mpg more power more electronics etc ?

I’m not sure Euro V is about delivering those benefits; more likely tighter emissions...Some manufacturers eg Triumph had Euro V in mind when developing Euro IV models anyway. My guess is that the Cr will be quietly dropped. Despite it being the best bike I’ve owned in nearly 50 years, it hasn’t been a big sales success. I hardly ever see another and knew little about them until looking for a new bike at the end of last year at the NEC. I too fancied a BMW R1250RS but in the end I thought of all the issues Ive had with post K series Beemers and decided against another. A good friend had had his VFR for years and never had any issues with it. On a whim I had a test ride on a newish VFR and was blown away by the engine, but at my age it’s too sporty a riding position so I chose the Cr as having the riding position of my old R850GS but with a properly good motor.
As for low volume of posts on this forum in my book that’s fine. Some forums seem to be populated by people who have something to say about nothing much. I sense a more discerning membership here.

Yes, it would. I suspect that as the Cr is based largely on the VFR there’s not much that hasn’t already been covered. That said, as a new owner I have some questions regarding servicing the Cr that I’ll pose in the relevant section after the weekend. Although it’ll be a while before the warranty expires I’d like to determine what is/isn’t feasible for me to do myself.

Understated bike for understated people, hence the lack of forumactivity?

Whilst it would be great to meet some other Cr owners, I think we'd struggle to find a location that would suit a majority.

As far as rideouts go, I don't ride the Cr as a backroads scratcher, it's my superlative commuter so if I was to go to, say Wales or Scotland for some great roads, I'd take the 1200 rather than the 800.

Shouldn't stop someone trying though if anyone wants to give it a go. A simple meet for coffee and a chinwag may be enough.
