Just did the best ride.
on: February 27, 2019, 09:21:09 AM
Well. I just did a 1600km round trip from Nambucca Heads to Dalby to catch up with a good mate for a few days. The rout I took was down the coast via the Pacific Hwy. across the Great Dividing Range via Thunderbolts Way then up the New England through the country side to Dalby and back. I have done this run before but what made this so much fun? I thought I would drop the seat & remove the spacers for s#!ts and giggles + roll the bars back a tad. Thinking I could lower the centre of gravity a bit and be able to bend my elbows down more instead of out while cornering. May not sound much but it made a "huge" difference to the bikes stability & handling cornering hard through the mountains, also less fatigue including on the Hwy's. In addition with the engine now well run in, through the twistie stuff keeping the engine revs above 5k the power delivery mirrors that of all the 2 stroke bikes I've owned. I have really admired the VFR800X ability so far as a long distance tourer, buy I just discovered a whole new side to this bike which has taken me "way" by surprise. Now thinking of dropping the suspension 1.5cm to see If I can find the sweet spot. Anyway thought I'd share with fellow owners.  :031:

Interesting pint about the suspension, thanks for sharing.

Not jealous at all about your road trip!  :028: :031:

Planning a trip to Oz this time next year, staying with friends in Sydney but definitely plan to explore further afield too.

Having completed 2700 miles on a VFR800 around South Island New Zealand in 2017, the thought of riding around some great routes in Oz is incredibly tempting but sadly this is not a biking holiday.  :006:

Having said that, if the stars align and we can get over the lack of kit issues, I think I could persuade Mrs Skids.  :152:
