45L Honda Top Box & MK1 Crossrunner

Evening,
Has anyone managed to fit the 45L Honda top box to a mark 1 crossrunner (mine is a 2012)?
I have acquired one that came from a 2016 vfr800f along with the plastic plate that it sits on and the metal plate that attaches to. It won't fit onto my bike that is set up for the smaller 31L top box.
I have seen MK2 crossrunners with both boxes so figured there would be a way to mount it onto mine but I can't see a way to make it work with the kit I have. Is there perhaps an adapter plate available? I haven't been able to find one.
EDIT: It looks like on the later models the brackets bolt on to allow them to be swapped whereas the older model it is welded on. Very annoying. I'd still like to hear solutions from anyone who has made it work though.
Thanks,
Mark

Sorry, I discounted using a Honda box many years ago for exactly the issues you are running into. As you have already bought yours this will not help, but I bought a used Givi 46L box from EBay and a new suitable fitting kit for a fraction of the Honda cost and have been very happy with them for the last 6 years.

Did the givi kit fit with the Honda panniers? I got the 45L box cheap so it's not a great loss if it doesn't fit

Sorry again, but I use Motech Blaze panniers as I only need them occasionally and they can be removed very quickly and leave very discrete mounting points.

If it doesn't work out for you and you decide to sell it on, I might be interested!
