Noise
on: August 27, 2019, 02:39:33 PM
I had a knocking noise, coming from the chain.
today... I had the time to replace chain and sprockets.
And cleaned it , just a little
This set did only 31000km.
Dealer had fitted an old model VFR set (model before 2015  is a 530 chainset and sprockets) now I 'm back to stock 525 chainset

Still double the milage I had on my Suzuki GSX650F,  that sprocket only lasted about 9000km, then with just renewing the front sprocket, the rest lasted another 9000km.

so yes... some experience with sprockets and chains....

I have used JT chains and sprockets before and they were well engineered and lasted well. Presumably you used a JT chain as well?
Just lube it every 200 miles or so with a bit of EP90 gearbox oil and all will be well. Chain sprays might seem less messy but they eventually coagulate into a gelatinous goop. They are all trying to imitate oil but without the 'fling', but oil still lubes the best in my opinion.
Who in their right mind would design a vehicle that falls over when it stops?
