    Hello and Probably Goodbye

    Hello All,

I joined the group with full intention of buying a Crossrunner, and indeed have managed to do so, however, I am just about to list for sale again.

I bought V8guy's bike thinking that its battery eating habits had been tracked down. Turns out they haven't and whenever I have tried to use the bike it has a flat battery.

Since the bike is my work horse and I need on the button reliability first time and every time as I ply my trade as a marine surveyor across the south coast from the Isle of Wight, this bike cannot be part of my story and I am back on a 62,000 mile Deauville

The bike has had a habit of flattening batteries at a standstill but the issue has been difficult to diagnose and is not consistent.

V8guy had the issue investigated by his local mechanic and local Honda dealer and when given the all clear from them had the battery replaced on warranty as it was the suspected culprit.

At that point I bought the bike and discovered within two days that the problem still exists.

I have had the bike serviced and MOT'd and the problem investigated again and again drop test, charging test and stationary discharge tests were all normal but the battery went flat in 2 days.

The fix may be simple, you may have the skills to fix it or you may know someone who has or you may be happy with fitting a battery isolation switch as a work around, or it may be that a nice lithium ion battery will feed it properly between rides. I cannot stick with it, I don't have the skills or facility and as it is my job of work that is at risk here I need reliability.

So, hello, and if you would like to know more about the bike I have for sale, 2015, 20,000 miles with a brand new MOT and 8 miles since last service, £5,250, do drop me a line.

    Cheers, Barney

What a pain. Gutted for you mate. The old Honda reliability has certainly deserted this particular bike. I think it's going to be difficult to sell but good luck. Hope you manage top find a buyer.

If you can pick your nose whilst riding, you've clearly forgotten your helmet!

Thought I had sorted a solution with a cat N with very minor damage at https://www.hgbmotorcycles.co.uk/

They need the workshop to check mine and I couldn't make it until Weds/ Thurs this week so we made an appointment and I agreed to travel to them from the IOW.

I called today to confirm the arrangement which they did.

Before emailing me an hour later to tell me that it was sold yesterday.

Another Honda dealer for me to avoid.

    Feeling very let down.

    Nightmare continues.

Have you asked the Honda dealer (CSM) in Ventnor for their opinion Barney?
They always seemed very pleasant & helpful folks whenever I've been in there whilst over visiting the Father in Law.

No Reason to think they wouldn't want to help, issue is that it has been through three sets of hands, including a honda dealer (total cost??) and the problem hasn't been solved to date.

Think it has to go, thought I had a plan.

    Turns out I didn't
