Genuine Top Box and Panniers.... Fitting
« on: February 21, 2012, 07:21:21 AM »
In a word.... DONT!

4 hours of stuffing around and if I had known what I do now, I would have paid for the dealer to do it.

Wow that bad huh? That explains my dealer's reaction when I told him I wanted to collect the bike the same day, in which time they had to clean and fit the luggage to the bike ...

Followed the rack fitting instructions to the letter, only to find that when I started reading the pannier instructions I had to remove the bloody thing again.
I purchased the centre stand too, took one look at the fitting instructions for that and have pushed it to the side for a whole free day.  It involves dropping the exhaust, which involves buying new exhaust gaskets.

I just cut the offending bold 3mm short and saved the exhaust dismantle procedure. That is a very long bolt anyway and the center stand foot is resting against the frame so no special load on that bolt. Otherwise I would ask a dealer to do it.

I'm glad that I took advantage of the free fitting on offer from my dealer

Thanks heaps Max. Did exactly that today and the stand is in place and working well.
