    Rear hugger

Looking for some advice on the which rear hugger to use on a 2015 model. I’ve just returned from a Scottish bumpy road trip which has managed to destroy my ermax one 😥
Covering the chain also would be great. I have looked through the threads but can’t find a particular one that seems to be best.
    Thanks in advance

I've got new one to sell, it's for the normal VFR800 2014 onwards which I think is the same as cross runner 2015 onwards..  not got it in front if me but think it's a pyramid one, it's gloss black, it does have a couple of light scratches where it mounts at the front but it's impossible not to happen and is completely out of sight when fitted. this hugger goes all the way down to protect the shock linkages too... new price was about £100, looking for £55 plus postage if your interested...  I can check with pyramid that the fitment is correct.

Hi popkat, thanks for the reply. Does it have the chain guard connected to it or do you buy it separately? Also, how far down does it hang at the front. Heard conflicting stories about the power bronze one so has anyone else had issues or do they recommend it.
    Regards

The chain guard is part of the hugger, the front extends down to the bottom of the suspension linkage, it does get close to the exhaust but doesn't touch. I have trimmed a little off the chain guard mount as it wasn't possible to put the brake pipe clamp on properly, with a small spacer it will work perfect now.

I will try and get some pictures in the week.

I had the Honda one fitted from new; it’s useless because it’s too short to stop road filth going everywhere. I am looking at an Ermax, but my question is this: how effective is it in reducing the amount of cr*p that gets thrown all over everything? It doesn’t look much longer than the Honda one and at the price they cost is it worth it? Another possible option: does anyone make a rear mudguard along the lines of the BMW GS, which is surprisingly effective together with a normal hugger?

It is an ermax one I had. It looked quite sleek when on and was in white which suited the bike. The place it started to fail was where the chain guard part of it fixed to the bike. It cracked all the way up at the bend so I had no option but to break it off. The part that covers the tyre is still on but is quite bouncy. I’m sure it was plastic as opposed to fibre glass as there were no strands. They sure are expensive and I would have expected it to have lasted a bit longer. As white is my preferred colour, I have seen one that is gel coated in white when made.

Thanks for that :031: I do fancy the candy wotsit red to match my bike but I doubt I’ll bother then. The Honda one is well-made; it’s just too short to be effective.

No problem, I think I will go for this one as I contacted them and it can be done in white. Might be worth a message to them regarding the red. They don’t do bike specific colours but maybe there is one that is close.

Not interested in the pyramid one I have then ?, it bolts to the chain guard not part of it.. I'm not in my workshop until Friday but I'm happy to take pictures if you'd like.

    Popkat,
Cheers for your offer. It’s a no to your one I’m afraid. I have decided that I will go for a white one. This ties in better with the white front fender I already have on the bike. That is interesting that you say the pyramid one bolts to the original chain guard. I will have to look into this as there is no original chain guard for the last part of my chain on the bike. Whether this was removed to fit the ermax one by the previous owner I don’t know.
    Thanks for now
