For sale - SW Motech risers to convert Mk1 handlebars

    Hi
I over ordered parts whilst working out how to do the conversion to put standard bars on my Mk1 CR.
I am removing the plastic covers and standard bars and installing Renthal bars.

The parts for sale are a pair of new SWMotech 50mm risers in black ( these will attach to the top yoke )
A pair of new SWMotech vario barbacks in silver. These give a rise of a further 50-60mm and bar position adjustment.
I’m yet to fit mine but confident it will work with the Renthal 755 bars I have.

I got the Varios at half price of RRP as the box is tatty £39.99 - normally £80-£90
The standard risers were £50, will take £40 as I opened the box ( to see if I could just stack 2 pairs, but didn’t love the look )

Just putting them up here in case anyone was considering the modification and had similar issues as I did trying to find a solution. Otherwise I’ll return the risers and eBay the varios.

For clarity the Varios for sale are silver.
Images show what I’m installing on my bike

    Hi,

Where to order such a set?

    I didn't find it anywhere.

    Regards,

After searching for weeks I found nothing.
So I have taken the risk and purchased bits separately to make my own version.

But just search SWMotech and buy them from their website. They are in Germany.

I’m in UK and can post the spares I have if you’re interested. Cheaper and brand new.

    Thank you for your answer.

I have a lot more to redesign to make it more comfortable. Seat, footrest, etc.

    It may take place later.

What are the implications on cabling and clutch/brake lines will they need to be changed?

What is the width of the new bars?

Can you post some pics of the job as you do it please?

    Cheers

    Hi Reasty

I’ve decided to just go with standard 22mm Renthal bars. Never had an issue with them on my old bike XT660X. Solid.
No implications on cables or hoses other than tidying them up with zip ties ( bought releasable ones so they don’t get overtight and cause chafing / flex breaking issues.
The new bars will be pretty much in the same position, height etc.

It’s mostly a cosmetic exercise. I’ve always hated the plastic shrouds. They just look like an afterthought. A sticking plaster to cover a hideous design carbuncle.

Plus you can’t mount anything in the cockpit area as the bars are inaccessible. I can even put a cross brace on to increase the options for mounting things.
Currently I can only use mirror stalks. Less than ideal.
I’m aiming for something like this ( with tidier cabling ) not bothered by taper pro type bars. Unnecessary expense for little gain.

    Will take photos and update

New bars fractionally wider, but nothing to worry about

For clarity I’ll be selling the following if anyone is interested. I’ll probably hold onto them until I’ve done the conversion.
That way people can see if it works.
