First Run 2021
on: April 06, 2021, 07:49:33 PM
First run out today on the 2019 Crossrunner, Wilbers front and rear and now Akro can. Combo is superb. I like the sound of the original can but the Akro has given the bike a useful pep. I reckon the bike in real world is as quick as my previous 2  Versys 1000, but easier to handle. Did 70 miles prior to the snow Belper - Derby - Ashbourne - Leek - Buxton - Ashford - in - the - water -  Tansley Tops -  Wessington - Belper. Nice run and missed  the precipitation.

Shame this bike is no more on the bike shop floor. Perhaps best all round engine made for a bike (Was ) intend to keep same and hope to ignore the electric dream !

Sounds like a nice runout. It is indeed a great shame that the V4 will no longer be available in the UK.  :003: It would have been nice if Honda was able to modify the engine to meet the over the top Euro 5 regulations, but it is an old design and the Crossrunner and the VFR800 were, in recent years, not good sellers in the UK.
Some of my past bikes. Norton ES2 - Norton 650SS - Velocette Venom - Velocette Thruxton Venom - Kawasaki ST 1100 - Kawasaki GPZ 1100 - Honda NSS.

Corringdon, Cheers for the reply. Yes they were not best sellers as you say not because they were no good they were just not perceived to be on "Trend" I have a number of bikes including a GS LC and I see loads of them and many of the riders IMHO would be better off on the CR as their size would suit the smaller bike better. They will get there just as quickly and safely and save a packet to boot.

Mentioning the GS was rubbing down the centre stand particualry the cross bar for some hammerite smooth as it sits in the firing line and noticed how gossamer thin the paint was, at the same time totally refubed my Pan Euro's stand and the paint was loads thicker. That bike hits 19 this year and the top build quality will sadly never be seen again.
I do not buy bikes for TFT screens or for that matter the looks. I buy them for their handling and overall performance and bikes like the Pan that were sorted regardless of age are still fully fit for purpose.

Nice roads and glad you enjoyed your first ride.

I took my Crossie up to Graffham Water last week in the warmer weather, via some back roads and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Trying out my new Knox jeans which were very comfy.

Need to get the 1200 out next.  :007:

I have a few friends (also VFR riders) who would kill themselves laughing right now, but you are very kind though i would only describe myself as a long time VFR owner.  :031:
