Optimate charger issue

So, I'm 2 weeks in to the bike and have come across a minor problem. I've got an Optimate 4 (about 4 years old) trickle charger but it doesn't work with the Honda charging lead. Works with the crocodile clips, but doesn't connect with the lead. Tried Optimate but they couldn't help. Lead is wired direct to the battery and the fuse is OK. Anybody else had any issues with the charging lead or any suggestions?

Didn't the Optimate come with it's own battery connector? That's what I've been using on both my bikes. Just wire it to the battery and the connector at the other end is compatible with the Optimate lead.

As Skids says the Optimate comes with its own connecting lead. Replacement leads are available from many sources including The Sports Bike Shop.
Some of my past bikes. Norton ES2 - Norton 650SS - Velocette Venom - Velocette Thruxton Venom - Kawasaki Z1100 ST - Kawasaki GPZ 1100 B2 - Honda CB500.

Thanks both, yes, the Optimate lead plugs straight in to the Honda lead. It just doesn't charge. Swap over to the crocodile clips and it works fine. Frustrating!

What is this "Honda lead"? Do you mean the lead that connects to the battery terminals that comes supplied with the Optimate? If that is not working, you should be able to get a replacement from Optimate.

Hi Skids, it's the lead already connected to the battery terminals that was attached when I bought the bike. The charger lead fits into this lead. Does that make more sense?

OK, so I should have had my glasses on. What I thought was an original Honda lead is actually an Optmate connector on the battery terminals. I'll try Optmate again. Never to old for a learning experience!

Postscript to the above.
Optimate replaced the lead F.O.C. with overnight delivery. Impressed.
