    Coolant choice

Just doing a full clean and service of my bike. I noticed that it still had the original green coolant in it. I went to my local dealer to pick some up as the manual said to use Honda pro type 2. They only had Castro and I was told this is what they have used there for years without issue. So my question is, what type/brand of coolant is the preferred one that folks here use on their bike?
    Regards

Ah, I see. Unfortunately English is not my first language so had to go with spell check. It must have thought Castro was cooler than Castrol so changed it without me noticing.

    Hello Goggons,

I have no personal experience with changing the coolants because thats work I leave to the dealership, however, for what its worth, here is what the manual says about that:

"Pro Honda HP Coolant or an equivalent high quality ethylene glycol antifreeze containing silicate-free corrosion inhibitors"
"Standard Coolant concentration: 1:1 mixture with distilled water"

I doubt that even Honda dealers use Honda coolant. I just use non-silicate OAT coolant from Halfords. It only needs changing every five years. It is pink, if that helps, though colour is no determinant to f type. Non-silicate is essential or the pump seal will wear and leak.

Thanks for all the replies. The dealer did say to me that they were going to be taking in honda branded coolant and oil in the near future. I saw on a Google search that someone had been offered the Castrol coolant instead of honda stuff, hence why I ran it past you all here. My bike is almost 7 years old now so no concerns about claiming on a warranty by using the wrong one. In fact, i saw someone didn't even use antifreeze and only put in distilled water. Up here, there is only one type of distilled water and it's not going in the bike.
    Regards

Awesome, Goggins. My internal cooling system is spoilt for choice but is rather partial to Cardhu Gold.
