    Vfr800x 2012 fuel tank

    Hello all!

I dented my vfr800x 2012 (?Mk1?) quite severely. The fuel tank has been dented and its now 3/4 its capacity haha!

So I was wondering whether anyone knows how to source a used fuel tank. Im looking at a 2015 model (?mk2) but not sure if theyre compatible?

Does anyone have any insight? Thank you!

I'm not aware of any differences between the 2015-2020 models fuel tanks.

    Have you tried breakers yards?
    98 VFR800 - 130,000 miles, 08 VFR800 - 76,000 miles, 15 VFR800X - 44,000 miles (all sold)
    14 VFR1200 - 24,000 miles
    18 VFR800X - 30,000 miles
    01 VFR800 Fi-1 - 9000 miles

Im in Australia and I dont think a lot of wreckers get these in to be honest. Im not aware that these are that popular here! I havent checked wreckers out yet but also don’t have a lot of leads. Have called up one or two but theyre not sure either if its compatible.

I just edited my post to reflect that its a 2012 model i have, but was looking at a 2015 fuel tank.

Wowzer, that looks a sore one  :005:  There is one for sale on the bay uk for your bike priced at £199. Might be worth emailing the seller if he’d offer postage to you. The mk2 tanks trim and shape is completely different I’m afraid.
Failing that, a good rub with t-cut might get rid of some of the swirl marks and not make it so noticeable.  :190:

No problem. Your tutor has passed on his wisdom to you in a good way. I’ll bet he’s like the rest of us and spent a lot of time, effort and money trying to fix the unfixable. Good luck with your hunt and it might work out well for you as it’s in white to match the bashed one. :031:

Ah. No idea then whether they are compatible or not.

Probably not. It might fit on the frame, but doesn't align with the plastics.

No luck! Ebay seller said they don’t ship to Australia!

On that note though, are there any differences between the fuel tanks in the vfr800 /f/x of the same 2012 year? Maybe i can look at noncrossrunner tanks if they are known to fit?
