Are you experiencing problems with the forks? When fork braces became popular in the 80s they were mostly fitted to bikes with a single front disc to counter the twisting action of the brake force only being applied to one side of the front end. Since most modern bikes over 400cc have twin discs they are no longer needed I assume. I think a lot of people bought them for looks, like modern cars and bikes festooned with "lightweight" carbon fibre items on top of the original part.

I noticed with the extra height on the CR and being telescopic not USD there is a certain amount of flex nothing to do with braking. Not a huge issue but something that I thought for a few bucks couldn’t hurt to try. I do give it a bit over some fairly crappy twisty roads over distance. BTW I’m the opposite to bling as you may notice on my avatar. True as you stated very few bikes these days need them with modern tube diameter & thickness USD etc. but I’m not sure what has happened on these with 43mm extra length, & maybe weight saving. Not unhappy with stock set up at all and I’ve had this bike now for 6 years which the longest I have kept any bike over 52 years of riding. Just one of those little tweeks you get in your mind when travelling and won’t go away until I try it. :031:
