Having moved to the Crossrunner from an Africa Twin after nearly 3 weeks today has been the first day the differences between the machines is really made itself obvious -- todays little foray was up into the northern part of the Peak District one of our usual haunts and here the big twin comes into its own being better suspended and really more tractable -- the CR is OK on the more open roads but on todays examples no -- if scoring on todays performance the big twin gets 10/10 but the CR probably 6/10 . Still twiddling with the suspension settings but deep down I know it'll never match the AT and once my left foot gets used to the Fred Astaire action we'll be ok [hopefully] on the plus side the CR build quality is far superior to the AT , think we'll persevere a bit longer --problem being I'd only had the twin over 5years so it's all change ---ask me in 5 years if I've still got the CR.

Aren't you comparing chalk and cheese with the different engine sizes? Bit of an unfair comparison.  :027:

My VFR 1200 would beat both the CR and and the AT but then I would never try to compare them.
    98 VFR800 - 130,000 miles, 08 VFR800 - 76,000 miles, 15 VFR800X - 44,000 miles (all sold)
    14 VFR1200 - 20,000 miles
    18 VFR800X - 16,000 miles
    01 VFR800 Fi-1 - 9000 miles

Not trying to compare engine sizes -- more the quality of the ride on the roads we were on , to put it bluntly
the CR suspension is crap on that type of tarmac but I do understand it's a different machine altogether so
I'll have to adjust my riding to cope with the shortcomings if we're out in the wilds -- and after nearly 20 years on twins
I've got to try and remember how to use a 4 potter but I'll persevere a bit longer .

The main thing that would rule out the Africa Twin for me is the sheer height of it whereas the CR is low enough for me to get on with it perfectly.
