Michelin Pilot Road3's
« on: May 09, 2012, 07:18:05 PM »
Picked a wet morning to have them put on but have to say that I felt better riding home on PR3's than I did going to the tyre fitters on Scorpions. I rode home via a large new industrial estate which has good roads and lots of nice roundabouts - even though I was being cautious due to combination of wet/damp plus new tyres - it felt good.

Hope to get some dry miles in over the next week to fully scrub them in.

I agree the Scorpions are ok in the dry but can get a little slippery in the wet worse when its just damp but not soaking how long did the originals last so I know how long I have to wear them out. Im a Yorkshire man so I wont change them until they are worn out no mater how bad they are.

I have about 5500 on the clock - front was my biggest concern - had started to develop the usual threppenny bit profile and I decided it would not last through upcoming 2,750 mile tour. As i didn't want to have another Scorpion on the front - I decided to have the pair changed - the back would have done another 3,000 maybe - so I have kept it and might just swop back to Scorpions (ie buy a new front and put the old rear back on ) at some stage, as an interim, cost efficient change depending on how the RP3's work out. Then again it might just sit in the garage for ages until I am given instructions to get rid by her indoors.
