How should givi fz1104 kit ne mounted?
on: October 20, 2012, 10:37:47 PM
Hello,

Firstly sorry for my english, I'm just à french Guy:-)
I receive my fz1104 givi kit today and discover the very very short mounting description.
It's too short to determine how exactly I should put rack on my crossrunner.
Do i have to make some hole in the current rear hugger?
Does anyone have it and can do some close photo of it (especially fixation under the sit)?

Thanks for your help

Hi,
I just fitted mine yesterday and had the same problem - the instructiones are very brief and aren't very clear.

You do need to drill two holes under the seat to fit the mounting plate.  I first drilled a small pilot hole to get the position right, then carefully drilled larger holes until I got the size and position I wanted. They ended up too large for my liking, but I'm not very good at this.

Here are some photos I took of it for you -
Fitted plate under the seat:

Thank you very much, it confirms what I supposed.
In fact all lugguage kit (shad, givi, sw-motech) needs some hole in origin motorbike.
Then i can now continue without any fear :-)

Hello,

Just another question about givi mounting, did you remove the two nuts (which are prisoner under the pilot sit) before putting the two bolts with the metallic piece in the hugger part?

Regards

Yes, you need to remove the two forward captive nuts to fit the longer screws through to the bracket under the bike.  I did it by working a thin flat-blade screwdriver from underneath into the gap around them - they should pop out fairly easily.
