Honestly I didn't look that closely at the invoice. It's not my bike or money and the bike has an extended warranty, so if there's any grief it's gonna come back on Chiswick Honda, so they need to look after it :)

16K service
Reply #11 on: January 25, 2013, 10:58:00 AM
My 24k km service is due in another 3k km (which will be in 2 weeks after a 5 day trip around the state).

I haven't put my motec crash bars on yet and I was wondering if I should wait until the service is due. I was thinking they may have to take the crash bars off to do the service which would just increase the cost.

Anyone know of the crash bars would need to be removed or not?

Id leave bars off and if your comfort take the fairings off as that will save an hour of labour

Incidentally..a Honda dealer I know said that the valve clearance thingy was a myth and they had hardly ever had to make any adustments -- just that the time to strip down is so lengthy - and felt that some unscrupulous dealers are well up for saying "we had to adjust a few valves a bit" just to justify the costs.
Z1000sx valev clearance check is not on the service schedule until 26,250 miles  :152:
I'll bugger off now then.
Hey Joe, good excuse for selling bike.Think ill add that to my list. Ali. :158: :211:

Just completed my 24k km service. Took 7 hours of labour and cost AU$1,000.

All valve clearances were in spec.

How often have you had it serviced? My dealer says every 6 month or 6000km

Every 8000 miles or 12 months is the service schedule for the CR, I assume that's 12000km.

If the dealer is telling you you have to have it serviced every 6 months then either they don't know anything about the CR or they are deliberately ripping you off.

Time to find another option for servicing by the sound of it.

I just checked the owners manual, and you are right Cornersrun, it clearly shows the service intervals as 12000km.
I probably wont be going back to the dealer I bought it from, and have subsequently had it serviced by.
I thought every 6000km seemed a bit too frequent, especially @ $400 a go.
