    What luggage have folks got?

The Honda panniers and top box are tiny, and we do a fair bit of touring, so need something much bigger.

May be off for another 2/3 weeks round Europe this summer, and need something easier than last year!!

For 2 up camping, I ditch the topbox & use an Ortlieb 'Rack Pack' - they are about 100ltr, totally waterproof and because they open lengthways it's easier to find stuff than a normal end closeure roll bag. Packed, they are kind of oval in profile so it makes it easier to strap stuff on top if required.

BTW, yes, the stock top box is crap compared to my 52l Givi!

Ps, love the throwover panniers on the top box.
Another option is to take less 'crap' :-

I saw what i think was a british  firm doing a rack that looked like it would take big givi panniers. This is the page looks like you will have to lean forward to keep front end down lol :001:

Thanks DetourPhil, I've just looked at the Rack Pack. 89L is the largest I could find, but the reviews are all good so I'll look a bit more at that.

Yeah, a shower mat on the topbox to prevent scratching/slipping, then throw overs, which stuck out no further than the panniers worked well. On long hauls, like almost the width of Germany on auto routes, the Mrs could even put an inflatable pillow behind the straps and relax! The dry bag had all the bike gear in it(and yes some of it was overkill) waterproof over suits & boot covers, thermal liners, chain and disc locks, cans of chain lube & tyre weld, maps for each county(more fun than satnav!), and all the stuff you have to carry in certain countries. We really didn't know what to expect weather wise, so went prepared, but did use most of it. High 30s in some counties, so mesh jackets and Kevlar jeans, low single figure temperatures in others (crossing the high Tatras from Slovakia to Poland in particular) meant thermals!
Next time we'll know what we can leave at home!

Mr. madonsims, That rack looks to be the right price, but with all the luggage its starts to add up. As we only need to take a big load once a year, I've got to work out if it's worth it. All short UK breaks are fine as we are, Just want a quick(cheap) option for 2 week plus trips. But I'll check with the boss tomorrow! :002:

I can't recall the size of my Ortlieb as I've had it a while but seem to recall 90 & 110ltr being available.

I'm sure others will do similar stuff but the full length opening us very handy but can be tricky to get the air out when closing!
Check out Lomo (ewetsuits I think they go by?) Too.

I have a wide piece of alloy chequer plate with coles cut in & bolt it to the top box mount for better strapping & support for the big bags ;D

Ahhh, alloy chequer plate, I was wondering how you mounted it!

Apparently they stock Ortlieb at our local outdoors store, so I'll stop by today and see what they have.

    Hi
About having to pack for all weathers. My wife and I purchased these -

The vest really means you can reduce your bulky layers significantly.
    We love it.

    Cheers Jimbo

Do any of the Australian members have a top box and/or luggage, other than the Honda gear.
It seems to be sooooooo expensive over here
Oh Sh*t!' is usually the moment when your plan parts ways with reality

I have the full honda box set. Cost $2200.00.
I think the way it integrates with the machine and the quality make them good buying.

I have got a Givi 46l Trekker  top box and V35 side cases.
Cost a bit less than Honda, more space and can be moved onto my next bike when the time comes.
